Why train with practice lashes?
One of the most important skills in lash extensions is proper isolation – separating one natural lash and attaching an extension without gluing multiple strands together. Practice lashes provide a consistent and durable base where you can focus on this specific step. You control the pace, angles, and amount of glue without time pressure or the risk of irritation.
Regular training with practice materials significantly shortens learning time and provides more consistent results once you start working on clients. It is also a cost-effective way to introduce new techniques – such as volume techniques or hybrid sets – before implementing them into your regular service menu.
Technical training tips
Isolation and placement
Attach the practice lashes to the training head using a thin layer of tape or a drop of glue to mimic the natural lash line. Practice isolating a single lash with your tweezers before applying the extension. Ensure the extension is placed 0.5–1 mm from the base – not touching the skin, and not too far out.
Glue amount and drying time
Briefly dip the extension into the glue so that you get a small, even amount. Too much glue creates thick clumps and prolongs drying time. Hold the extension against the lash base for 1–2 seconds until the glue has bonded. Practice until the movement feels natural and you consistently pick up the right amount of glue every time.
Ergonomics and pace
Training on a mannequin head gives you the opportunity to correct your working position and hand angle without stress. Aim for a steady working pace rather than speed – precision reduces correction time and leads to a cleaner result.
